WINTER IS HERE
Winter is here.
It is a demanding season.
Not everyone appreciates this season.
It is a season where few creatures stir.
Plants do not visibly grow.
The experiences might feel like our enemy.
These rigors of winter, can be accompanied by amazing gifts, if we take time to nurture our roots.
Despite all appearances, nature is not dead in times of winter — it has gone underground to renew itself and prepare for spring.
We must take this time that we are given, and do the same for ourselves.
By relaxing into the calm curiosity and go where the flow goes.
The story that we are meant to tell, experience and live will unfold in its’ perfect timing, but only when we are receptive of what is to come.
We must make room for all of us to blossom.
In order to blossom, we cannot clutch to a list of desires.
We have to take time in this cycle to catch our breath, recharge and renew.
The wheel will turn again.
We have to have trust that in this time, delays are welcome, delays can be great and delays are perfect.
In these delays, we must stay present to witness our rebirth, when Spring comes.
This season, is not a battlefield.
This season, is not a game of chance.
This season, is something that will be infinitely
more richer,
more promising,
more real.
Just like plants and trees move through their life with an endless cycle of seasons, we must remember that our journey never ends — even in these unprecedented times.
We must take this time —
To nurture our inner work
To nurture our hearts
To nurture our future plans
Otherwise
Our outer work will suffer when spring and summer comes.
When we do move forward, we need to do so rooted in truth.
As a nation, we have deeply disturbing problems. There is no denying that.
We have to pay attention now to these inequalities — in hopes that it will force us to reconsider what social and economic roles matter most, that structural racism is causing disproportionate rates of contagion. The supremacy of whiteness is the comorbidity that is killing thousands of people around our world.
We will soon experience a gaslighting around the world to return to the “old normal” — may we be reminded that one season is never like the other and that when Spring comes, the cracks in our foundation have been exposed.
When the time comes, may we grow back not into what was but instead towards what we can become.
